My relationship with LOTRO

Lately I haven't really been able to bring myself to playing LOTRO seriously and for more than maybe an hour at a time. After all, there are so many things to do, games to play, people to meet, books to read and so on - how could I possibly find any time to go back to the things that I've already done a million times?

Yet something about Middle-earth keeps dragging me back. I don't know how or why. Sometimes...

Sometimes I feel like the ring verse is the best description of my relationship with LOTRO.

One ring to rule them all,
one ring to find them.
One ring to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them.

I'm not the only one who suffers from that, right?
Right?...

  1. Definitely feel you on there being many other games to play. I haven't really played LotRO in a few months at this point. Nor do I care to.

For you, is it the game drawing you back, or your friends in the game?

    1. A little bit of both, I think.

On an unrelated note - didn't you once tell me you had a Steam account? There's a game that has at least kept me around that part of the Internet quite a bit lately, so...

    2. One does not simply play "a little bit" of Crusader Kings ;)

    4. Very addictive; gotta get dat demense just right. At one point, I was spending more time in the landed_titles.txt than the game, putting Norse alternate names for every title I could think of. Germany became Þýskaland, Bavaria became Bæjaraland, Poland became Pólland, etc. That was before the DLC that lets you in-game change everything you own directly or indirectly.
